The Strong LINK between
Obesity and Diabetes
Diabetes is becoming a pandemic in the United States.
Every day we hear more and more news about more and more people getting diabetes.
It seems to be almost inevitable for the majority of today's population. It is only a matter of when, not if you will get diabetes. Or is it?
One of the most notable correlations on this front is the one between obesity and diabetes.
Not everyone with type 2 diabetes is obese, but most people who are obese will eventually develop diabetes. Another established correlation between
obesity and diabetes is that when an obese person who has been diagnosed with diabetes loses weight he or she makes significant improvements in his or
her diabetic condition.
The American CDC (Center for Disease Control) has so closely associated the link between obesity and diabetes as to say that obesity is the most
correlated measurable health event to diabetes. So it is not surprising when we see the amount of obese and overweight people in the United States
increasing, we also see the number of diabetics increasing at a similar rate.
Making the Right Food Choices to Limit Obesity And Diabetes
We know that various people have different metabolic rates and calorie maintenance requirements for proper body function. But, we also know that with
proper food choices nearly everyone can prevent obesity. If we prevent obesity through proper food choices, we may also prevent diabetes with what we
know about the strong link between obesity and diabetes. Basically, we need to go back to more natural foods with complex carbohydrates, the way they
are found in nature and avoid refined carbohydrates, animal proteins, and animal fats. You absolutely need to cut out juices and sugar drinks, which
are pure sugar rushes to the body.
Exercising to Limit Obesity And Diabetes
If you are sitting around much of the day, either as leisure or as part of your work environment, you need to get out and exercise. Take it upon yourself
to see your doctor about getting on an exercise program to limit obesity and diabetes. Your doctor will be glad to help you do so and may also refer you
to some other specialists to help you get started. There are no overnight solutions to obesity and diabetes, but the sooner you get started the sooner
you can begin to reduce the impacts of both on your life. So see you doctor, eat right, and go out for a nice walk.
